About our 1979 Volkswagen Beetle
With only 2,100 original miles this Beetle is just like a new car in every way. Finished in Bahama Yellow with black interior the final version of the Beetle convertible is etched in the minds of just about everyone in the Boomer generation. The smell of the vinyl interior on a hot summer day is an instant recall of life in the sixties and seventies.
History of the 1979 Volkswagen Beetle
It was 1974 when VW made the departure from rear engine rear wheel drive cars and began building front engine forward drive cars. With more stringent U.S. emission and crash test requirements the end was near for the ever popular bug. 1979 was the last year the VW Beetle would be sold in the U.S. and the convertible was the only Beetle offered. Over the many years of production Beetle’s have been seen all over the world and in every possible color. Their sheer utility reflects back to a simpler time when life was easy and everyone had a bug in the garage.
