Our Cadillac Eldorado stands in showroom condition which is exactly where it resided most of its life. It was kept by the original dealership that received it from the factory as their own collectible, only used once in a while for parades and special occasions. Having traveled only 7,500 miles since new and living in the showroom has treated this car well with virtually no interior fading as so common with the red dash and other interior components. This lovely Eldorado is and always will be the pride of any Cadillac collector who wants the best and lowest mileage example with originality that only comes from an unrestored vehicle.

Of the many years of Cadillac’s luxurious convertible Eldorado, none was more significant than the 1976 Bicentennial. Promised by GM to be the last of the breed of convertibles that would ever be offered, the production numbers of the Bicentennial were limited to just 200 cars in total (although 14,000 Eldorado Convertibles in total had been built in 1976). All Bicentennials were Cottilion White with white leather seats and red piping, and all had red carpet and dashboards. The pinstripes were red and blue on the hood and doors and continued down the body in red only. Each was made identical with all receiving the same options and dash plaque in brass commemorating each as 1 of 200 limited production Cadillacs. They were all powered by the 500 c.i.d. V-8 and while not the powerhouse of the modern cars today, it proved to be quite capable in moving this gentle giant smoothly along in Cadillac style. Despite their vow, Cadillac did indeed produce convertibles again just eight years later dispelling the “promise” as just a marketing ploy. Still there is nothing quite like the power and sense of ‘floating on air’ that these final Eldorado convertibles offer.
