About our 1961 Jaguar MKII 3.8 Saloon
This car is an original survivor save for a repaint from bare metal some twenty years ago. It has just 27,000 original miles from new and has been meticulously restored mechanically. The potent 3.8 liter engine is coupled with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. With its many luxurious appointments and great performance this Saloon is perhaps the best touring car ever badged with the Jaguar name. Growing appreciation for these road cars is evident in their recent rise to the top of the serious collectors list.
History of the 1961 Jaguar MKII 3.8 Saloon
Ranked among the most loved Jaguars ever built, the MK2 Saloon embodied changes cosmetically and mechanically that gave it better performance and more subtle proportions than in previous Saloon models. Three engine options were available as well as the first ever automatic transmission option. The top of the range 3.8 liter, 220 HP engine gave the MK2 a top speed of 120 mph with 0-60 acceleration of 8.5 seconds.
